Film
2016
Short film created by Marcos Scheidt as part of his Parsons MFA Design and Technology thesis project. The project uses performance, sculpture and audiovisuals to investigate the relationship between the body and identity.
Xica was born one year before the conclusion of this project. She became a key piece of my life when I first decided to paint my eyebrows turquoise and venture myself through the New York City nightlife.
The film follows Xica through her skin, the canvas where she comes into life, as the both colorful and quiet space of hiding and revealing, of self-exposure and modesty, of presentation and shame, or veiled allure and absolute vulnerability where identity is played out and staged.
